ACSPSNA aims to cultivate collaborations, further communications, and foster innovations among Chinese-origin soil and plant scientists in North America on agricultural research, education, and extension.

2026 ACSPSNA Annual Meeting and Call for Nominations

Location: Room TBA, Oregon Convention Center in Portland

If you plan to attend, please notify Dr. Haiying Tao (haiying.tao@uconn.edu) by October 25, 2026. Early notification will help us to prepare for the ACSPSNA annual meeting and group dinner events. Later notification of attendance may not secure a seat and a dinner plate at the meetings.

Pre-registration payment for the annual meeting is encouraged to promote the efficiency of the meeting, which can be done via Zelle (a banking app) by October 25, 2026. On-site payment in cash or Zelle is also acceptable. Any questions can be sent to Dr. Haiying Tao (haiying.tao@uconn.edu).

Call for Nomination - Secretary
Eligibility Requirements: Nominees must

be an active member of the Association.
be working as a faculty member in a university, as a scientist in a research organization, or as a professional in the industry.
demonstrate excellence in the following areas: research, college teaching, student supervision, multidiscipline cooperation, and administration.
attend the annual ACSPSNA meeting in the next three years to facilitate the development of the association.

Call for Nomination - Postdoc Associate Representative
Eligibility Requirements: Nominees must

be an active member of the Association.
be a Postdoc researcher at a university in North America.
assist in the recruitment of prospective postdoc associates, including initial communication about joining the association.
perform other responsibilities as required.
assist in or serve as the social media director helping with publicity work.

Call for Nomination - Graduate Student Representative
Eligibility Requirements: Nominees must

be an active member of the Association.
be a graduate student at a university in North America.
assist in the recruitment of prospective graduate students, including initial communication about joining the association.
perform other responsibilities as required.
assist in or serve as the social media director helping with publicity work.

Eligible nominations will need the following information: Name, institution, CV, research area, and contact information (email) of the nominee, and nomination letter from the nominator along with nominator's name, title, and affiliation. The materials should be sent to Dr. Haiying Tao (haiying.tao@uconn.edu). Pre-meeting nomination is due October 25, 2026.

2026 ACSPSNA Awards are Open for Award Applications

The 2026 ASA-CSSA-SSSA annual meeting will be on November 1-4, 2026 in Portland, OR. During the period, the ACSPSNA will hold our annual meeting and continue our awards program. Four types of awards will be presented, i.e., one award for 'Distinguished Career', one award for 'Outstanding Young Scientist', one award for 'Outstanding Postdoc Scientist', and three awards for 'Excellent Students' (one award per society). Please see details in the award description at https://chinesesoilplant.org/awards. The application deadline is October 25, 2026. Please send the nomination package to Dr. Xiaoping Xin (xinx@missouri.edu) who will forward the materials to the respective award committees.

ACSPSNA Good News

Xue Bai Receiving Lowe Scholarship Award		Congratulations to Xue Bai, the 2024 ACSPSNA Graduate Student Representative and a PhD candidate at University of Forida (UFL), who recently received the prestigious Lowe Scholarship from UFL’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). Xue’s research focuses on the impact of farming practices on soil and water quality.
ACSPSNA as an A-C-S Specialty Group		Congratulations to Dr. Sutie Xu, the 2024 ACSPSNA president, who led the association to become an official Specialty Group of the tri-societies A-C-S.
